Advanced Drying Laboratory is a product of the visionary technical efforts of Prof. Bhaskar N. Thorat and his research students since 2003. ADL is the first ever drying laboratory in India which is equiped with various types of the dryers prototypes and the analytical facilities. The ADL is a part of chemical engineering department of University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT).

Extensive research work has been carried out so far in our research group related to drying of products of different origin, right from marine and agricultural products, pharmaceutical products, specialty chemicals, fine chemicals to biological products. Professor Thorat and his team have so far organized number of technical events and we have organized the biggest technical event ever "16th International Drying Symposium (IDS2008)".

Our research group has research student from various background, right from Chemcial Engineering, Food Technology, Bio Process Technology to Pharmaceutical Technology.
